WI-GREEN is a national project approved by the strategic partnership of Portugal 2020 with the European Commission, in this project, Eurico Ferreira in partnership with INESC TEC, during the two years of the project, will develop new solutions that allow the reduction of energy consumption at Wi-Fi hotspots in indoor scenario.

WI-GREEN is integrated with SooGREEN, a project associated to the European cluster Celtic-Plus/Eureka, composed by 16 consortium partners led by Orange France, the project has started in 2015 and have an expected duration of 36 months.

SooGREEN intends to explore different solutions to optimize the energy consumption of services/networks in communications, arises from the need to reducing the energy consumption taking into account the constant traffic evolution and for explore new network architectures, keeping in mind the development of smart networks and potentiating areas such as, Internet of Things (IoT) and Smart Grids.
